KHS BIKE BUS

Ride your bike to Kings Highway Elementery school. In collaboration with KHS & Westport Police Department

A group of children and adults who bike together as a group on a set route, in this case to school. The “bus driver,” an adult on a bike, guides the group along the route. Kids and their parents join the group on their own bikes when the pack comes by their “bus stop”. (In our case, we all start and end together)

Biking is a fun and healthy way to get to school and be with your community. Riding a bike also helps youngsters develop confidence, which is essential when exploring their independence.

WHY:

NOTE:

After completing the ride to KHS, bicycles can be parked safely at the school. Pick-up of the bikes happens anytime between 9am - 3:30pm (no bike pick-up during dismissal).

Condition of Bicycle

Any bikes you are using should be in full functioning order before the ride. You can use the “ABC” check on bikes you plan to use: Air: Make sure tires are properly inflated, check for flats if bike(s) have not been used in a while Brakes: Check to be sure brakes are functioning properly Chain: Be sure bike chain is lubricated and in its proper position

Liability & Photo/Video Waiver

Liability Waiver: I hereby acknowledge and agree to participate in the Bike Bus event organized by Bike Westport. I understand and accept that cycling involves inherent risks, including but not limited to accidents, falls, and injuries. I voluntarily assume all responsibility for any potential harm or damage to myself, my property, or any third parties involved. I release Bike Westport, its organizers, volunteers, and affiliates from any liability, claims, demands, and actions arising from my participation in this event. By accepting this waiver, I confirm that I and my children are in good health and have the necessary skills and equipment to safely participate. I further agree to follow all event rules and safety guidelines. I have read and understand this waiver and accept its terms willingly. Photo/Video: I hereby grant permission to Bike Westport to use photographs and/or video of me & my child taken on Nov 3rd, 2023 during the KHS Bike Bus in publications, news releases, online, and in other communications related to the mission of Bike Westport.
